This is a picture of how we celebrate/decorate the house for Nowrūz!
Nowrūz, a season in the Persian calendar, falls on the first day of spring (which so happens to be Mother’s day in the Arabic calendar) Every year, on every Nowrūz, the weather becomes pleasant and you can feel spring coming. It basically marks New Yea on the Persian calendar and the beginning of spring.
On Nowrūz people usually clean the house completely, inside and out, music filling the house, trying to make better of themselves and etc… Just like a new year, renewing.
The picture above has something called “haft seen” which in Persian means “Seven Ss” We place seven things on the table beginning with letter S, each item symbolizes something! (We add other things that don’t begin with letter S too..) For example, you see those fishes? they symbolize life.
I love Nowrooz and the feeling that comes with it! I love the fact that it’s on Mother’s day and my birthday! I find Nowrooz quite interesting too and there is so much too it like symbolism, health issues and so on!
